The Shelton High School robotics team won the NE Waterbury District competition on March 1, at Wilby High School in Waterbury.

SHS Team 230 the Gaelhawks was able to take home the gold with the help of Team 236, the Techno- Tics from Old Lyme and Team 3464, Sim-City from Simsbury.

The competition lasted for two days with 34 teams competing, all coming from throughout Connecticut, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.

This year’s game, Recycle Rush, made alliances work together to stack totes on top of other totes and place recycling bins on top. Teams would only have two minutes and thirty seconds to try and make as many stacks as they could.

The Gaelhawks were seeded second for most of the competition and were selected by the first-seeded team, the Techno-Tics to join their alliance along with Sim-City.

The Gaelhawks will be competing at the NE Dartmouth District Competition in Dartmouth Mass., the weekend of March12.
